FIRST LADY!

I will be playing the leading role in a staged reading of "First Lady," by George S. Kaufman and Katharine Dayton on November 19th at 7:30 pm at the Stage 2 Theatre, 300 W. 43rd St., 4th Floor. Admission is free. "First Lady," which ran on Broadway from November 1935 to June 1936, is a sparkling political comedy about the women who pull the strings in the country's highest seats of power. The lead role is based on one of Washington's most powerful women, Alice Roosevelt Longworth, daughter of President Theodore Roosevelt and wife of Speaker of the House Nicholas Longworth. The combination of Kaufman's wit and keen ear for dialogue and Dayton's portrayal of strong, capable women gives this play its extraordinary staying power.
